7 Signs You REALLY Like Someone

Disclaimer: This post is not a love test. This is not to confirm your "intense feeling of affection" as love or mere infatuation. (Don't we all confuse the two sometimes?) 7 Signs You Really Like Someone

1) You go out of your way for the slightest chance of seeing them 

So it's Friday night. You've got your PJs on and your favorite reality show plays on the TV. The couch can't be more compelling to your tired body and mind and you can't wait to fall asleep on it after a long, hard week. Then the phone rings. Your friend invites you to a party whose host is a friend of a friend of the cute guy/girl you've been crushing on. Blushing, you hung up the call, turn off the TV, put on your lucky underwear and rush to that party. You're not even sure the person you wish to see will be there. Plus, you hate parties. But you still choose to take the possibility of coming close to that person. Why? Because you like them that much.

2) You find yourself listening to Taylor Swift songs
Okay, so a lot of people distaste Taylor Swift. Some even hate her. But admit it. Her songs tug at your heartstrings like Betelgeuse's "unseen hands" on Subaru's core (hi, Re: Zero fans). If you feel understood by the cheesy lyrics, then there's more to it than liking his cute smile.

3) You want to be friends with them
It sounds counter-intuitive, doesn't it? Of course, the last thing you want to be in the life of someone you like is his/her friend. No one likes to be in the friend zone. But let me tell you why you want to stay there for now. Amazing relationships begin with friendship. You're not shooting for immediate yet breakable romantic affair. You want to build a strong foundation of trust and amity between you two. And if Heaven allows, someday you can both agree on becoming more than that. *winks*

4) You don't feel scared of going separate ways

When you have a crush on someone, you feel giddy seeing them and disappointed when they go away. But when you really like someone, you wish for their success and happiness, with or without you. You don't force life to go the way you want it to. Instead, you let things be. You have faith in the fact that what has your name on it will find its way back to you, no matter how far it's gone.

5) You choose personalized over store-bought gifts for their birthday
You don't spend so much of your precious time crafting gifts for someone you just (meh) like. Yes, you like him so you bought him a shirt with his favorite rock band in front of it. But if you really like that guy, you want to give him something only you can make. Perhaps an origami that looks just like him (what?). Whatever it is, you want to have your fingerprints all over it.

6) You keep your standards, especially around them
When people flirt, they tend to put on the mask of a more interesting, more appealing persona. When you like someone so much, you want to keep every word you say and action you make authentic. That way, you both know whether you want to go further into a relationship or not. You don't agree to something that disowns your life principles to impress. You stay true to yourself even if they don't like it.

7) You value every memory you have of them
Not only memorable occasions but also the littlest and simplest moments. Each of us has our own way of preserving memories. From writing a song to making a blog about how you realized how much you like that person. If you decided to write a poem about the one time he opened the door for you, then that's another sign you like him that much.

So, those are the 7 signs you really like someone. Know that these are from my personal point of view. It doesn't matter if the person you like likes you back or not.
